The Background Eraser Tool In Photoshop to Erase Background

We’ll discover all about the Background Eraser Tool in Photoshop and how to employ it with no trouble it can remove background areas of an image.

The Background Eraser Tool is particularly useful with photos that contain lots of fine detail along the boundaries between your object and its background. 

Background Eraser is, without a doubt, one of the finest tools in Photoshop for remove unnecessary areas of a photo, but it’s not ideal and it does have one severe drawback also. As an eraser tool actually deletes pixels from the image, which means that once they’re gone, they’re gone for good. 

To avoid harm your original image, it’s a fine idea to copy your Background layer primary before erase any pixels, or work on a divide copy of your image.

The Background Eraser Tool is found nested under the regular Eraser Tool in the Tools panel.

If we look in my Layers panel, we see that the image is sitting on the Background layer

Let’s say I want to remove the yellow column in the middle without erase the pink & sky columns on either side of it. The way the Background Eraser works is that Photoshop samples the color that’s straight below the crosshair in the middle of the circle. The larger circle surrounding the crosshair represents the area where Photoshop will wipe away pixels. Any pixels inside the circle that equivalent the color of the pixel straight under the crosshair will be erase.

When I click my mouse button, Photoshop samples the yellow color under the cross hair and erases all of the matching yellow pixels that fall within the larger circle

         

To remove more of the yellow column, I just need to continue holding my mouse button down as I drag the Background Eraser over more of the area. Make sure, selecting the once sampling option in the Options Bar. 

Notice that even though the circle sometimes extends into one of the sky color columns, they remain undamaged, and that’s because those pixels are not the similar color as the color that Photoshop sampled itself. This makes it trouble-free to get right up along the ends of the area want to wipe out. As long as keep the crosshair inside the yellow area, Photoshop will only erase yellow pixels


However, if I want to move the crosshair over an area of sky, Photoshop samples the sky color and starts erasing sky pixels making sure that Continuous sampling option is active first. It works great when the background you're trying to remove contains multiple colors. But if the color of your background doesn't change much, the Once option frequently works superior.

Photoshop gave the Refine Edge power a major overhaul, with sufficient improvement and new appearance to make select hair in a picture simple enough for anyone to do!

This tutorial is about How to make selections in hair image and change its background

Here's the transformation for what I am working with. It displays before - after portion of the photograph-

Step 1:  Open image as a background

Step 2:  Copy background as a background layer and name the file “refine edge”

Step 3:   Select Lasso tool from the tool panel

Step 4:  Draw an outline around the person surface with lasso tool and select the surface

Step 5:  Click “refine edge” from the top menu bar from the Photoshop tool. After opening refine edge select “overlay” to masking the hair surface of the portrait

Step 6:  Drag and move the cursor of the mouse to mask hair surface to make move from the background to separate the hair area

Step 7:   After the masking is done click “new layer “to transfer the masking area on the transparent background

Step 8:   Now we can see that “refine edge copy” is created separately on the layer panel

Step 9:  Select background layer and press ALT+ backspace to apply black color background behind the object

Step 10:   So now you can differentiate the refine edge masking with the new background

This way we can easily change a background with hair surface to a new color background or any other background from another place

Today we are showing how trouble-free and easy it is to alter hair color in Photoshop by tinting and colorizing any person hair in a portrait. The method we'll learn here gives us whole control over what we're doing, with quite a lot of different ways of fine-tuning the results. We can employ this system on a photo of another person.

Step 1: Open image in Photoshop and click on the new adjustment layer icon at the bottom of the palette

Step 2:  Set Hue/saturation

Step 3: After Hue/Saturation dialogue box opens select the colorize option in bottom right corner by click

Step 4:  Now change hue/saturation slider to colorize the entire image.Don't worry we will fix the rest of the image later.

Step 5: To hide the surface of color hue/saturation adjustment layer by fill layer mask with black. We can notice currently black is our background color and layer mask is already selected. Confirm foreground color white and background color black. Now press ctrl+backspace to fill the layer mask with black color. After this effect colorizing will disappear from image

Step 6:   Select brush tool and with this, we will paint the hair surface

Step 7: Drag brush tool on the hair area only with the adjustment layer.We can change our brush size also by first and second bracket to perfect painting to the area edge

Step 8: Changing the blend mode of adjustment layer is another way to tune the color of the hair

Step 9:  Moreover change opacity of the adjustment layer if you still not satisfied enough with the color

Step 10:  Save the final output of an edited image and see the difference of original and edited version of the portrait

Now here we start our process of renew the photograph

Step 1: Choose a random photo to edit. Here we choose a yellowish old photo to convert

Step 2: Apply auto color function to correction the primary color balance and overall shades. Its gives photo the coolest look from the original

Step 3: Run your cursor to the Image > Auto Color (shift+Ctrl+B). Click this option once and see the transformation instantly. If you want more accurate result you can keep clicking this option multiple times till you get your desired result

Step 4: Now we can still do better editing with further process of color balance. To open the “color balance” Go to image > adjustments > color balance. It has two sub categories. One is color balance and tone balance. We can change color balance manually from this color slider

Step 5: To give a natural photo finishing Go image > adjustments > Hue/saturation. Drag the saturation slider to minimize color saturation of already applied color effect

Step 6: Now you can evaluate the difference of old and new one by preview button and can easily change them before making the final approval

Always remember photo editing greatly depends on quality of the scan photo. Make sure to scan a photo with high-quality scanner to better photo transformation.

The photo you want to preserve , you can now easily keep them safe and beautifully to convert and retouching the photo with Photoshop

How To do Alpha Channel Masking In Photoshop to Remove Background with 14 Steps

We understand by Channels as "containers" for storing information in Photoshop. These are two types - color and selection. We can use 24 of them in our Image.On the other hand, Masks are like cover that protects particular parts of an image. These are also two kinds - temporary (quick masks) and permanent (alpha channels)

Together we can use Channel Mask to Isolate hair & fur photos from the background. Photo masking works better than clipping path technique. We can edit & transform the image to our preferred taste in terms of color, brightness, exposure, etc.

Alpha Channel mask is also a mask similar to channel mask. We can rather say, Alpha Channel Mask is far easiest than layer masking. Because doing layer mask is far critical than the channel mask and time-consuming. But it’s noticeable that people always chose layer mask for removing the background. It’s because layer mask is perfect to do masking or cover on an object to dethatch background

We should remember that for channel mask object background should have solid or one color background. Where layer mask is preferable for any portrait background where we can apply masking to remove background

Now we can see the output after doing channel mask on an image

Tools that used for this tutorial are-

Channel-mask-Steps

Step 1: Open Image on the layer background and select channel layer on the layer panel or we can bring channel from the window on the menu bar

Step 2: We have to compare between Red, Green, and Blue to identify which channel is more darken or blackish

Step 3: We select Blue channel as a darken image to edit with channel masking

Step 4: Copy Blue channel as Blue copy layer

Step 5: Select Blue copy layer and go Image > adjustment > Level

Step 6: Adjust level and fix output level- 74, input level-237 to convert the object darkest

Step 7: Take magic wound tool/quick selection tool to catch the object outline

Step 8: We can use lasso tool to minimize object area which already selected but must delete the area with pressing ALT

Step 9: Press (Alt+ backspace) to apply black color on the selected area which is applied on foreground color

Step 10: Now take black color as brush tool to remove extra faded area for perfect masking

Step 11: Once again select white color brush to remove unwanted black sheds around the object

Step 12: Select Blue copy channel along with pressing Ctrl to active the object outline perfectly

Step 13: Go to layer background and press Add a mask icon on under the layer panel

Step 14: Select new mask box and go to windows on the menu bar > Properties > Invert

Step 15: Quick after selecting the invert, object will appear on the transport background

Now Background Removed we can use any background like Our previous Article Layer Masking.
It is the easy way to Remove Background for Hair/ Woolen Related Images. To do Alpha channel in photoshop, we must be concern about the color of background like Solid or Almost Solid.
