Today we are going to learn how to edit brush effect on a portrait by layer masking method

Here is the output of this tutorial for your shortcut understanding

The proper steps are here for applying the brush portrait effect

Step 1: Take new document on the canvas about 8 inch height and width, 240 resolution

Step 2: Go to Hue/adjustment layer and select gradient

Step 3: Change style linear to radial, tick the reverse, scale 495%

Step 4: Take any photo of yours on your canvas for further edit

Step 5: Add layer mask on photo layer and paste black color on the mask layer

Step 6: Make sure foreground color white and background color black to brush the image layer by masking

Step 7: Brush the area you want to mask of the selected image for particular design

Step 8: Change brush to make another design over the image

Step9: Customize the brush palette brush style with filter box

Step 10: Now paste the brush style on the portrait you want to design over the canvas

Step 11: Now you can finally finish the total edited process of Photoshop brush effect

Even a experienced expert cannot produce a true effort of art unless they focus on key rudiments such as exposure, focus and white balance. So, if you’re equipped with your DSLR and are looking for something amazing demanding like shooting portraits outdoors, there are certain pointers that can create your skill gratifying. You will also end up capture some outstanding portrait if you attach to this strategy.

Here we starting our outdoor portrait with Photoshop. With this tutorial you can apply outdoor effect even on your photograph-

Step 1: Open image and select with quick selection tool of the object

Step 2: Go to edit and fill the minimize object

Step 3: Choose “content aware” to delete the object permanently

Step 4: You can see the object is permanently delete from the background

Step 5: There is some maladjustment of the background color on the image

Step 6: Select area of the place where we want to replace the miss-adjustment area with patch tool

Step 7: In the previous image we saw black sheds are disturbing suddenly, so that in the same way we replaced the area with patch tool

Step 8: this is the final background after all the replacement

Step 9: Now we have to open image we used the object of it

Step 10: Select the object with quick selection tool to move it on our already selected background

Step 11: Place the png file on our edited background

Step 12: Add a new layer for upcoming edit

Step 13: Go to hue/adjustment layer and select gradient

Step 14: Choose a gradient color base on your demand

Step 15: Decrease the opacity of the gradient on layer panel

Step 16: Add another layer if you need any other filter or don’t need to add layer

Step 17: Pick another background of sunset to give it extra ordinary look on the beach area

Step 18: Place it well to apply the background on the object background

Step 19: Change the opacity of the background layer by decreasing it totally

Step 20: Here is the final beach sunset outdoor portrait , you can use it on your image or portrait as well

Clipping path

Clipping path is the Photoshop method — worn with the Pen Tool — to take away the background from an image. Clipping path is usually use when the subject of the image has sharp, smooth edges. This allows the clipping path to stay straight.

A poorly drawn clipping path can result in images that don’t look real or natural. We zoom into imagery sometimes as much as 200% so we can get as close to the edge as possible.

Masking

Image masking is also a way to eliminate the environment from an image. Image masking is done with a multiplicity of tools in Photoshop, such as Background Eraser Tool, Magic Eraser Tool and color separation technique. Masking usually use for hairy or woolen object of any image. Though we cant use clipping path for any hair or woolen type object to cutout , that why we need masking method to do it so easily

Remove the background from an image with image masking is helpful when the subject of your image has lots of fine lines and small details. The image masking method you employ depends on a small number of factors, and in some cases, you’ll need to use more than one. For example, if the image you’re editing is very complex, with shadows or multiple background colors, you’ll probably require using a mixture of image masking criteria

Generally, the dissimilarity between clipping path and image masking is the system you use to eliminate the surroundings from an image. More composite images require image masking. It is strictly possible to eliminate the background from compound images with clipping path, but the result isn’t always as attractive as it would’ve been with image masking. As you can tell, the image edited with clipping path look unnatural
