Clipping Path VS Masking method

Clipping path

Clipping path is the Photoshop method — worn with the Pen Tool — to take away the background from an image. Clipping path is usually use when the subject of the image has sharp, smooth edges. This allows the clipping path to stay straight.

A poorly drawn clipping path can result in images that don’t look real or natural. We zoom into imagery sometimes as much as 200% so we can get as close to the edge as possible.

It’s significant to take your illustration when create a clipping path, because it can tarnish your brand and cause you to lose sales. Today’s eCommerce landscape is feisty, and you want your product photos to stand out — in a good way.

Masking

Image masking is also a way to eliminate the environment from an image. Image masking is done with a multiplicity of tools in Photoshop, such as Background Eraser Tool, Magic Eraser Tool and color separation technique. Masking usually use for hairy or woolen object of any image. Though we cant use clipping path for any hair or woolen type object to cutout , that why we need masking method to do it so easily

Remove the background from an image with image masking is helpful when the subject of your image has lots of fine lines and small details. The image masking method you employ depends on a small number of factors, and in some cases, you’ll need to use more than one. For example, if the image you’re editing is very complex, with shadows or multiple background colors, you’ll probably require using a mixture of image masking criteria

Generally, the dissimilarity between clipping path and image masking is the system you use to eliminate the surroundings from an image. More composite images require image masking. It is strictly possible to eliminate the background from compound images with clipping path, but the result isn’t always as attractive as it would’ve been with image masking. As you can tell, the image edited with clipping path look unnatural

Changing Hair Color

Today we are showing how trouble-free and easy it is to alter hair color in Photoshop by tinting and colorizing any person hair in a portrait. The method we'll learn here gives us whole control over what we're doing, with quite a lot of different ways of fine-tuning the results. We can employ this system on a photo of another person.

Step 1: Open image in Photoshop and click on the new adjustment layer icon at the bottom of the palette

Step 2:  Set Hue/saturation

Step 3: After Hue/Saturation dialogue box opens select the colorize option in bottom right corner by click

Step 4:  Now change hue/saturation slider to colorize the entire image.Don't worry we will fix the rest of the image later.

Step 5: To hide the surface of color hue/saturation adjustment layer by fill layer mask with black. We can notice currently black is our background color and layer mask is already selected. Confirm foreground color white and background color black. Now press ctrl+backspace to fill the layer mask with black color. After this effect colorizing will disappear from image

Step 6:   Select brush tool and with this, we will paint the hair surface

Step 7: Drag brush tool on the hair area only with the adjustment layer.We can change our brush size also by first and second bracket to perfect painting to the area edge

Step 8: Changing the blend mode of adjustment layer is another way to tune the color of the hair

Step 9:  Moreover change opacity of the adjustment layer if you still not satisfied enough with the color

Step 10:  Save the final output of an edited image and see the difference of original and edited version of the portrait

How To Do Layer Masking With Photoshop on Hair/ Woolen Related Images

Layer Masking

A layer mask is great Photoshop retouching procedure to remove the background from hair or wool related photographs. It becomes very tricky to detach; when there is a hair related photo and background of photograph both have exact same color. Layer maskings are used to redefine background transparency levels in shades of white, gray or black. These can be done for either a specific group of layers.
That’s why it becomes necessary to use Eraser & background Eraser tool to create transparent background of the image and easily replace with another background

We can edit any background by easy removing process which we called photo masking.In photo masking, we can differentiate 3 masking

1. layer masking
2. Channel masking
3. Alpha masking 

If we understand layer masking well we can identify easily the overview of channel masking. Because both are using for the same purpose but in a different way.

we can initialize the difference between the normal photo and layer masking photo to comparing

So we need some photoshop tools to execute the editing successfully

Steps of layer mask

Step 1: First we need to open the desired image and then copy background layer

Step 2: Select background layer and press new layer icon on right under the layer panel to changing its layer color

Step 3: Go to background copy layer and take background Eraser tool to mask the area of hair surface slowly. But the time we did mask we have to adjust tolerance percentage to adjust masking with hair color. We can increase/decrease masking tolerance based on our satisfaction

Step 4: Take Lasso tool to draw a path around the object

Step 5: Select background copy layer and press Ctrl to select the path

Step 6: Then press (Ctrl+U) to inverse the area of the object & press backspace to remove the unwanted background color

Step 7: Now to remove unnecessary spots around the object selected area press Ctrl and select
background copy layer together to pick the outline of the object

Step 8: Press inverse (Ctrl+U) to active the outside area of the object and delete extra spot and sheds

Step 9: Select layer 1 to go Hue/Saturation (image > image adjustment > Hue/saturation) to check if masking is perfect or not by changing its color multiple times

Step 10: Zoom the image to check hair surface that how masking has done

Step 11: Open one of background image from outside and copy to work with it

Step 12: Go to edit page, select background layer and paste that outside background image

Step 13: Now we can see there is another background which is pasted successfully and removed the previous background

Step 14: Merge the entire layer together pressing (Ctrl+E) and save the JPEG format to save the final edited photograph, 

we will give you another  idea of Chanel masking on an image to change a background
