How to Add Heavy Rain Effect to an Image with Photoshop


Add Heavy Rain Effect




In today’s Photoshop tutorial we’re departing to have some fun altering the weather in a photograph by adding a heavy rain shower. The result works top on night shots of gloomy streets to give the picture a spectacular mood. We’ll strengthen the subtle luminosity reflection on the concrete to imitate the manifestation of a wet exterior, and then add three layers of rain drops, each at diverse sizes to achieve the fantasy of depth.

Here is the step of applying heavy rain falls in street


Step 1:  Go to Select > Color Range and select the Highlights selection.




Step 2: shift the Fuzziness and Range sliders while observe the sample thumbnail to find subtle range of the floor highlights. The intensity of these areas will resolve how wet the road will come into view!




Step 3: construct a new layer, and then fill up the places of interest selection with white using CTRL+ backspace




Step 4: Alter the blending mode of the white layer to Color Dodge, then decrease the layer’s Fill onto 50%. You can change fill and opacity both just the right amount of surface shine for that wet pitch look.



Step 5: Add a new layer and fill it with black pressing (ALT+ Backspace) shortcut





Step 6: Go to Filter > Noise > Add Noise.




Step 7: Add 100% in the Amount setting, then select Gaussian and verify the Monochromatic option.




Step 8: Next, go to Filter > Blur > Motion Blur. Set the angle to around 60 degrees, with a Distance of 25px.





Step 9: Change the blending mode to Screen so only the white portions of the noise is visible, which allows the original photo to show through.




Step 10: Go to Image > Adjustments > Levels




Step 11: then drag the shadows slider handle to the right to reduce the number of rain drops.




Step 12: Save the JPEG format with last output
